Hello & Welcome!

Nancy & Frank LudlumWe sell amazing handcrafted products including hats, shoes, and purses made out of men’s neckties, repurposed jewelry, fused glass jewelry, including dichroic, and recycled! We invite you to come back frequently as our online catalog changes reflect the unique and one of a kind pieces that we sell. Dragonfly jewelry, dichroic glass jewelry and re-purposed jewelry are just some of the things that we specialize in. Each item is handcrafted and no two are alike, so when the item is sold it is pulled from the catalog.

One of the things that we love to do is upcycle neckties! We have hats, shoes and even purses made from men’s neckties. Our re-purposed necktie creations come in many different colors and patterns. At this time we are working on some new hat patterns. In the near future we will also have some How-To’s on how to make your own men’s necktie crafts. Our current selection of repurposed neckties are listed in our online catalog as Nancy’s Necktie Creations.

Re-purposed jewelry or (UPcycled jewelry) is about taking old jewelry that may have gone out of fashion or has broken and remaking it into something beautiful that people love to wear. Frequently two or more pieces of jewelry are put together to create something unique. One example would be taking a broken necklace and some spare charms and making it into a beautiful bracelet. We have even went beyond make repurposed Jewelry for people to wear and created home d├ęcor including wreaths and jewelry trees like those shown below!

Some history on the glass we use to create some of our jewelry

Fused glass is glass that has been fired in a kiln at high temperature and has been around since the ancient Egyptians. After becoming less popular when glassblowing was invented it started to regain its popularity in the 1960’s and has become a widespread hobby as well gaining a foothold in fine art. Dichroic glass contains layers of metals or oxides optical properties. According to Wikipedia, Dichroic glass “The main characteristic of dichroic glass is that it has a particular transmitted color and a completely different reflected color, as certain wavelengths of light either pass through or are reflected. This causes an array of color to be displayed. The colors shift depending on the angle of view.” Modern dichroic glass was developed by NASA in the 50’s and 60’s. Dichroic glass however can be traced back to Roman times. The Lycurgus Cup from the late 4th century AD has dichroic glass qualities.
